Okay, so I think I figured out part of my sleeping problem.
Turns out there’s a cat. In heat. In my backyard.
Lots of yowling cat porn.
Then the dog gets in on the action. (Figuratively people!)
So, I’ve got yowling cats and a barking dog keeping me up all night.
I need to get some bleach, I hear cats are sensitive to the smell and it drives them away.
I also figured out some of the estate stuff. I got the papers from the accountant, and talked to the lawyer again.
Looks like we’ll probate the life insurance.
I’m realized more and more how much being the executor of the estate has really been grinding on me.
My sleep has really been affected, and because my focus has been so far off, I don’t feel like I have enough control over what’s going on with the estate.
I had my aunt mail me some documentation that I thought I needed, but it turns out she needs to file it with her tax return. Which of course is right around the corner. Sooo….I need to mail it right back.
I thought there was a missing life insurance policy, but I found it – now finding that it may be more trouble than it’s worth to try and cash it. Not that the money from it is inconsequential, but the effort that it will take (and the lawyer fees to probate the will, and the taxes on top of that) make it more complex than it was originally planned.
Already visited the accountant today, we’ll get set up for his 2008 tax return, then later (beyond tax season) I’ll get advice on how to distribute the estate.
On top of that, work is stress.
Was kind of hoping to get away this weekend and take a break. I really need to stick around though – and figure some of this stuff out.
I think I may be heading out in a little bit. I need to go to Fry’s and price a tripod, and then probably hit the liquor store (again for the millionth time this week).
Why do I need a tripod?
Need is too strong a word.
I don’t NEED it…
Unbelievably, I found this book last night on the way back from the liquor store:
For those of you who don’t believe in Synchronicity, suck it.
And, instead of gathering my late father’s tax documents in preparation for the accountant tomorrow, I’m busy screwing around with my new camera and updating my wordpress header.
I’m ascending to the Cocktail Nation!
While I probably won’t be drinking tonight, I did pick up some (not cheap) cognac, and some (not cheap) dry vermouth.
I’m pretty tired, and about to wipe out.
I did manage to find a (what will be) funny drink recipe book at Half Price Books – which I shall take a picture of when my new camera comes in tomorrow.
Probably should not have imported all those other posts……
Oops.
I’m pretty exhausted. Thanks to The Girl on Top I managed to make my first Mexican Mojito on Sunday. It was damned tasty. Although, I didn’t sleep worth crap Sunday night…..I finally fell asleep at midnight, then woke up at 2:30, 4:30, and finally 6:45……oops. I overslept. Made it to work slightly late, was exhausted most of the day.
So, around 8:30pm yesterday, I’m thinking, “Aren’t I forgetting something?”. Sure enough – I had been meaning to stock up on some vermouth so that I could make a proper (vodka) martini. Also inspiring, I did try finally try a Manhattan. Gotta love the old school – it was pretty freaking fantastic….although I didn’t sleep worth crap last night either. 2:30, 4:30, etc, etc.
So what’s next? The Santa Fe? The New York Sour? Or the Salty Dog?
The Santa Fe seems a little complex for my tired mind, so I may wait for the weekend on that. I’ve got the goods for the New York sour, but I’m not in a whiskey mood. The Salty Dog (both Sammy Davis Jr’s favorite AND a cheesy 80’s metal band) sounds about perfect. I’ve got all I need including my last special grapefruit from that broker who continues to be a dick.
I can’t tell if I’m making these drinks because I’m infatuated with Andrea, or if I’m just a lush. Probably both. I think I gave her a hard time about having a small cocktail shaker, but it hurts my heart to see such a small amount of alcohol cooled at one time.
Off to the liquor store I go (again)
*Cheers*
Am I secretly hoping that you-know-who reads my blog?
Possibly.
Are YOU you-know-who?
Well, we’ll just see about that.
Well, pending the import of all my other entries that no one will probably see, this is my first post on WordPress. So far, I like this better than Blogger or Livejournal, so we’ll see how well this little “date” works. If I works out, I might just marry WordPress. No, no WordPress….I didn’t mean to rush you.
I just found out that Beyonce Knowles went to my elementary school.
Well…..8 years or so after I did…but still…..interesting.
It’s a small freaking world.
